Reena Esteban
Independent Facilitator

Hi, my name is Reena

When I first learned about the Self-Determination Program, its philosophy resonated with me immediately: the idea that people should have real choice, flexibility, and control over the supports that shape their lives. That conviction is also personal. My cousin in the Philippines has developmental disabilities, and services where he lives are limited or sometimes unavailable. I couldn't help imagining how life-changing SDP would be for him if he had access to something so empowering. That's what brought me to NeuroNav. I wanted to be part of a team that champions autonomy, dignity, and culturally responsive support, and to ensure every person I work with feels supported in creating a life that's truly their own.

What is important to me...

Everyone deserves someone who advocates alongside them, celebrates their wins, helps carry the weight when things feel heavy, and never makes them feel like they're navigating this alone.

I am known for...

Showing up with warmth, patience, and a calm presence. People tell me they appreciate how clearly I explain things and how I make complicated processes feel manageable. I'm very intentional about making sure everyone always feels like an equal partner in every decision.

I really enjoy...

Being outdoors in any kind of weather, whether that's a quiet walk or a day on the slopes snowboarding. I also find a lot of comfort in spending time with my dog, and I love exploring new interests, trying new baking recipes, and spending time with my family.

Experience

Before joining NeuroNav, Reena spent five years as a Registered Behavior Technician supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, followed by a role as a Service Coordinator at Kern Regional Center. It was there that she first encountered the Self-Determination Program, and its emphasis on real choice and control resonated immediately. Those experiences, combined with a personal connection to this work, shape how she shows up for every family: with patience, cultural humility, and a commitment to making complex systems feel clear and empowering.
